Millbrook, NY—December 18, 2007—Cross Country International, the world’s largest provider of equestrian vacations, offers an exciting new vacation package exploring Maine’s scenic coast on horseback while learning to capture stunning photographs.
Perfect for beginner photographers, as well as varied pros, this trip teaches you all the tricks-of-the-trade to producing beautiful photos in natural settings and light conditions. This is your chance to improve your photography, ride horses, and get some great exercise, all under the guidance of Nina Fuller, renowned photojournalist.
“This vacation is ideal for equine photography enthusiasts,” said Karen Lancaster, President of Cross Country International. “Maine is full of quaint New England charm and it makes for beautiful subject matter in photographs, as well as enjoyable canter sessions through the scenic trails.”
Guests will balance working on their photography skills with tutor sessions from Fuller. Discussions regarding portfolios, equipment, and tactics will provide answers to guests’ questions about working in natural light settings and using selective focus. There will be opportunities to visit a local stable and ride wonderful horses, as well as photograph other riders.
Guests will want to have plenty of film on hand for their visit to the Castine lighthouse and docks. The bustling activity of ships pulling in to port, lobstermen unloading full pots, and seagulls soaring above is a shutterbug’s dream! Guests will also enjoy a hike to the top of Great Pond Mountain with spectacular views of the ocean on one side and the lake on the other. Guests will also be able to relax in the glow of the last warm rays of sun grazing the horizon as the day slowly turns to dusk.
The final day of the trip provides guests with the opportunity to ask Fuller any questions they may still have. Favorite spots will be revisited as well as some new places for final photographs. The night ends with a traditional lobster dinner, which may have been caught by the same lobsterman you photographed!
