DENVER, COLO. (Dec.27, 2007) - Over its 115 year history, The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa has provided the stunning setting for many a romantic rendezvous, heartfelt affection, passionate affair and scandalous story. This year, The Brown is inviting guests to take a ride on the hotel's century-long emotional roller coaster with the "Affairs of the Heart" Historical Tour. Led by The Brown Palace's resident historian, Julia Kanellos, the historical tours will include tales of love, devotion and heartache from the landmark hotel's colorful past. Brown, who at 74 took a 22-year-old for his third wife; deeply romantic couples like Lowell and Frances Thomas, and President Ike and Mamie Eisenhower; the shocking affairs of Isabelle "Sassy" Springer and Mrs. Louise Crawford Hill; World War II love stories, and more. Available Feb. 13, 14 and 16, 2008, the tours are free to the public and start at 1 p.m., making it convenient for guests to enjoy lunch at one of the hotel's signature restaurants before the tour. Reservations are required.
