CHILEAN MINERS AND SPOUSES TO VISIT ISRAEL |
New York - February 8, 2011: Following an invitation from Israel Minister of Tourism Stas Misezhnikov, last year's rescued Chilean miners and their spouses will travel to Israel as part of a "Pilgrimage of Thanks in the Holy Land," February 23-March 2. The miners' tour will include visits to various Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, including the Via Dolorosa, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Garden of Gethsemane and the Room of the Last Supper, as well as the Western Wall and King David's Tomb. The group will also attend an official reception hosted by Israel's President Shimon Peres. "Your bravery and strength of spirit, your great faith that helped you survive so long in the bowels of the earth, was an inspiration to us all," says Stas Misezhnikov, Israel Minister of Tourism. "It would be a great honor for us to welcome you as our guests in the Holy Land." The pilgrimage will also include visits to the Dead Sea and Masada, the Galilee region (including the Church of the Annunciation, the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum and the Mount of Beatitudes), Caesarea, Tel Aviv-Jaffa and the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
