2012 SportAccord Convention |
The movers and shakers of the sporting world are coming to Québec City!
In a little over a year, 1500 influential sports figures will meet in Québec City for the next SportAccord Convention, a six-day event that will run from May 20 to 25, 2012.
The SportAccord Convention gathers members of every major international sport body, including the International Olympic Committee (IOC), international sport federations, cities and organizing committees, as well as the international media and service suppliers involved in planning and holding major athletic competitions.
During the Convention, the IOC will hold a statutory meeting of its executive commission, while the General Association of International Sports Federations (SportAccord), Association of Summer/Winter Olympic International Federations (ASOIF and AWOIF), International Masters Games Association (IMGA) and International World Games Association (IWGA) will all take the opportunity to hold their annual general assembly. This gathering of international sports decision-makers in Québec City will allow the region to showcase its historical and cultural charms.

Old Québec tourist information bureau rated highest among those of nine major cities |
The Old Québec tourist information bureau has received top honours for the quality of its visitor reception, information and overall services, edging out eight other major urban destinations: Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Madrid, New York, Paris, Rome and Washington. Québec City had a score of 943 out of 1000.
Mystery clients rated each information bureau on staff friendliness, the ability to answer questions in English, the extent of the personalized welcome, wait management, service delivery by telephone and the cleanliness of the premises.
This quality initiative has been conducted by the Paris Ile-de-France regional tourism committee since 2007.
