Valley's Finest Showcased at 10th Yadkin Valley Wine Festival
ELKIN, N.C. - The Yadkin Valley will showcase its growing number of quality wineries on Saturday, May 21, with the 10th annual Yadkin Valley Wine Festival.
The event, sponsored by the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce, takes place at Elkin Municipal Park. This year's festival promises to be bigger and better than previous versions, with more than 30 wineries pouring the best wines from the Yadkin Valley Appellation.
The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and allows people to sample wines, enjoy food from local caterers, shop various craft vendors and listen to live music.
Americana and bluegrass sounds from the Natty Boh Duo will fill the air from noon to 2 p.m., topped off by beach music from the award-winning Mixed Emotions band
from 3-6 p.m.
Tickets are $16 in advance and $20 at the gate. Ticket price includes admission plus a commemorative wine glass with the festival logo. Because this year's event takes place on Armed Forces Day, all active duty military personnel and retirees will be admitted for $16 with proper identification.
Admission is free for those choosing not to consume or purchase wines, and for people under 21. Anyone tasting or purchasing wine is required to show government-issued identification with proof of age.
