The Langham London Celebrates its 146th Anniversary

 Offering  a Seven Pence (11 cents) Afternoon Tea on June 10, 2011

London, England (5/12/2011) -- On June 10, 1865, HRH the Prince of Wales (later, King Edward VII) cut the ribbon and officially opened The Langham, London. 

To honor the 1865 opening, The Langham, London will bring back the original price of afternoon tea to celebrate its 146^th birthday.  For just seven pence (or US 11 cents), guests will be able to experience the Wonderland Tea, normally priced at £38 (US $62). This signature tea featuring dainty sandwiches, scones with Devonshire cream, delicate pastries and cakes and a variety of teas received the coveted 2010 Top London Afternoon Tea Award from The Tea Guild.

The Langham, London is regarded as being the birthplace of the afternoon tea tradition although the ritual is widely attributed to Anna, Seventh Duchess of Bedford, to ward off hunger pangs in the long hours between lunch and dinner. This enchanting tradition has now been adopted as a signature of all The Langham Hotels worldwide and to mark the anniversary all The Langham Hotels, companywide, will be offering afternoon tea at 1865 prices on June 10, 2011.

To obtain a reservation in London for this highly anticipated annual event, guests must submit their table reservation request on-line at:   www.palm-court.co.uk/1865.  Requests are being accepted until midnight on  May 31, 2011.  Guests names will then be chosen at random and the lucky recipients will receive their reservation notifications by e-mail on June 3, 2011.  Due to popularity, The Langham will be offering a special tea seating at 11:30 a.m. The Langham, London is located at 1c Portland Place, Regent Street.

Terms & Conditions

v      This is a limited availability offer and demand is expected to be high. Reservations requests may only be submitted on-line at: ww.palm-court.co.uk/1865 from 8.00am Tuesday 10th May 2011 until Midnight on Tuesday 31st May 2011, where full terms and conditions are also available.

v      Recipients of confirmed reservations will be chosen at random and notified by e-mail by 3^rdJune 2011.

v      Maximum party size is 4 persons and non-combinable with any other offer or promotion.

v      Tea will be charged at £0.07 per person for the Wonderland Tea, service charge is not included and is discretionary. Additional beverages and items charged at current prices. Minimum credit card transaction amount, £30.

v      In the event of dispute, The Langham, London decision will be final.
