Kids Go Free on Summer Rafting Adventures On Utah's Green River with Bill Dvorak's Kayak and Rafting Expeditions
NATHROP, CO, May 19, 2011 ˆ Legendary river rafting outfitters Bill and Jaci Dvorak know how to plan the perfect family river escape. They‚ve been doing it for over 40 years. This year families will be able to take some of the sting out of the high cost of a summer vacation with a special „Kids Go Free‰ promotion from Dvorak‚s Expeditions (http://www.dvorakexpeditions.com/).
The location is Utah‚s wild and scenic Green River as it flows north to south through the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservations carving the deepest canyon in the state. The week-long trip follows the path of Butch Cassidy‚s „Wild Bunch‰ and explorer Major John Wesley Powell, who titled the barren landscapes „Desolation and Gray Canyons - a region of wildest desolation‰.
However, Dvorak‚s „river magic‰ journey for families along the Green River is far from roughing it. Professional guides handle all the details and are adept at knowing the needs of children and parents in the wilderness. Healthy prepared meals, often ŒDutch Oven Style‚, include fresh meats and vegetables, breads, salads, desserts and beverages. The staff also take turns being the camp ŒPlay, Laugh & Learn Director‚ to organize games, side canyon hikes, campfire storytelling and off-river entertainment for all ages.
Dvorak‚s Green River „Kids Go Free‰ promotion allows one child age 5 to 12 to go free with one full paying adult; with two adult fares, two children may go for free, and so on. The adult rate for the 6 day / 5 night trip is $1,051 per person. Families will save $946 per child with this promotion. 2011 trip dates are; June 18-23, July 9-14, July 30-Aug. 4, Aug.6-11, and Aug. 13-18.
Price includes guides, all rafting gear and equipment, meals and ground transportation. The outfitter offers tents, sleeping bags and pads for rental if needed. Also excluded in the price and promotion are the 3 percent federal use fee, gratuities and the required air shuttle to the put-in from either Green River, Utah or Grand Junction, Colorado for $135 per person.
Utah‚s Green River is considered to be one of the top rivers in the West for beginner to intermediate rafters. Along its 84 river miles are more than 60 playful rapids from unnamed riffles to more challenging Class III whitewater. Off river hikes reveal thousand-year old petroglyphs from the Fremont Indians, abandoned homesteads, outlaw hideouts, and shadow-filled tributaries and grottos perfect for a swim.
Dvorak also offers family adventures and group discounts of up to 20 percent for large clans, reunions and clubs on other rivers in the West including the Upper Colorado, San Miguel, North Platte , Arkansas and Rio Chama. The outfitter is permitted to operate on nine rivers in five western states and from March to October runs a variety of half day to eight-day expeditions. United States military and family members receive a 10 percent discount off of any trip in the Dvorak Expeditions catalog.
