HONOLULU – Hawaii Superferry today announced that it would add a second voyage between Maui and Oahu starting on Wednesday, January 16. Additionally, the current promotional $39 one-way passenger fares and $55 one-way passenger vehicle fares have been extended for travel through June 5, 2008, provided tickets are purchased by March 31.
ÒA second voyage to Maui will benefit our customers who want the convenience of having an afternoon voyage,Ó said John Garibaldi, president and CEO of Hawaii Superferry. ÒThe second voyage will also greatly benefit our commercial customers, giving them more flexibility in reaching their markets. The additional Maui service was originally planned to begin when the second vessel was placed into service in early 2009.
ÒProviding service to Kauai is very important to us. We recognize and appreciate the strong support from many in the community. WeÕve decided, however, to initiate a second voyage to Maui sooner in order to allow more time in which to work with the community on Kauai to ensure a safe and successful resumption of service,Ó said Garibaldi. ÒAs we have always stated, our business model is dependent on running two trips per day and right now weÕve got to meet those needs.Ó
Starting January 16, the second voyage will operate Sunday through Friday between Oahu and Maui and will leave Honolulu at 3:15 p.m. arriving in Kahului at 7:00 p.m.; departing Kahului at 8:00 p.m. and arriving in Honolulu at 11:00 p.m. The first daily voyage will continue its regular seven days per week schedule departing Honolulu at 6:30 a.m. arriving Kahului at 10:15 a.m.; departing Kahului at 11:15 a.m. and arriving Honolulu at 2:15 p.m.
Reservations for all voyages can be made online through www.HawaiiSuperferry.com or through the call center at 1-877-HI-FERRY (877-443-3779). The call center is open daily from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. HST.
