AFTERNOON TEA AT THE LANGHAM, LONDON

08-10-2011

STEPHEN WEBSTER BIJOUX AFTERNOON TEA

AT THE LANGHAM, LONDON

London, England (8/2011) -- Luxury hotel, The Langham, London (http://www.langhamlondon.uk), is proud to announce its latest collaboration with renowned British jewellery designer Stephen Webster who, together with The Langham's Executive Pastry Chef Cherish Finden, has created the Stephen Webster Bijoux Afternoon Tea.

Exclusively launching for Autumn/Winter 2011, the limited edition Stephen Webster Bijoux Tea has been inspired by Stephen's most recent jewellery collection 'Murder She Wrote'. The 'Murder She Wrote' collection uses diamonds and colorful stones to create dramatic, statement pieces, which are an artistic impression and reinvention of the murder mystery genre. Intricate cakes and sweet patisseries have been created to reflect Webster's eclectic designs.

Stephen Webster, the Creative Director at both Stephen Webster Ltd and also Garrard, draws inspiration for his work from life experience and the world around him, whilst at the same time incorporating traditional jewellery design. The recipient of numerous coveted jewellery awards, Webster has built a dedicated fan base and is a firm favorite with celebrities across the globe; from Madonna to Christina Aguilera, Kate Moss, Mickey Rourke, Rihanna, Cheryl Cole and Kate Beckinsale to name but a few.

As the ultimate treat for a fashionista, the Stephen Webster Bijoux Afternoon Tea celebrates both British fashion and traditional afternoon tea with transgressive design and literary heritage. The edible masterpieces substitute sparkling diamonds for shimmering icing and dense gold for light cake within the decadent setting of the elegant Palm Court.

Accompanied by luxury savory sandwiches and indulgent chocolate scones, the tea will feature unique creations based on Webster designs, including the Crystal Clear Diamond, a lightly perfumed Guinness macaroon with blackcurrant jelly, the Poison Apple, a red peppercorn and dark chocolate shortbread, and a roasted green pistachio Chantilly with airy meringue sponge inspired by Stephen Webster's Armadillo ring.

The Langham's glittering centerpiece, Palm Court, provides the perfect backdrop for this unique dining experience, which unites the best of high fashion and modern design with the traditional British art of afternoon tea.  As the first 'Grand Hotel' in Europe, The Langham, London is famed as being the birthplace of the afternoon tea tradition, having served its classic afternoon offering in the dazzling Palm Court for over a century.

Since its opening in 1865, The Langham, London has played host to many of Britain's most celebrated names, in particular Arthur Conan Doyle, who went on to include the hotel in several of his Sherlock Holmes mystery novels.

The Stephen Webster Bijoux Afternoon Tea is priced at £49 per person
(approximately US $79), inclusive of VAT, and is available from September 1, 2011 - March 31, 2012 in the Palm Court.
