The Massif de Charlevoix train chugs into action |
|
|
The Massif train made its inaugural "voyage" on Friday, September 9, the first of 27 railway cruises being offered this fall, with the last departure from Québec City on October 16. The train will carry passengers all the way to the ski resort as of February 2012. For more information, go towww.lemassif.com/en/train/ete/1395/september-2011.
Le Massif is not just a mountain anymore! It has become a choice destination stretching over 140 km (82 miles) of gorgeous scenery between Québec City and Charlevoix. The Massif train has enhanced the tourist offer in both regions.
A panoramic, culinary and one-of-a-kind experience
The entirely restored train cars give passengers a wonderful view as they travel past stunning natural tableaus and different points of interest, including Île d'Orléans, Cap-Tourmente, Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, Baie-Saint-Paul, Isle-aux-Coudres, Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive, Les Éboulements and Saint-Irénée.
A three-course lunch is served on the way down to Charlevoix and a gastronomic four-course supper on the return trip.
An educational and entertaining audio-visual guide for the trip is accessible by iPad. Activated through geolocation, the guide provides different commentary on the way down and back.
