Hundreds of thousands of parade-goers of all ages will line Woodward Avenue this Thanksgiving for the 85th Annual America’s Thanksgiving Parade®. Themed, So Much to Believe In, the parade kicks off at 9:20 a.m. on Woodward Ave. and Mack and ends at Woodward Ave. and Congress. Put on your favorite player’s jersey and head to Ford Field, as the Detroit Lions take on the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Green Bay Packers this Thanksgiving, Nov. 24, 2011. Bundle up for the eighth annual Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony at Campus Martius Park on Friday, Nov. 18. You’ll enjoy special performances and a countdown as the switch is turned on the gigantic Norway spruce that lights up the park. Campus Martius Park will also debut a new event this November called Christmas WonderFest, an indoor/outdoor festival featuring marketplaces, a carousel, Ferris wheel and photographs with Santa Claus. The seventh annual Cars, Trees & Traditions at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum will spotlight eight decades of holiday season celebrations through 23 decorated trees paired with Chrysler vehicles throughout the museum. Evergreens on the museum’s two top floors will feature authentic ornamentation from the early 1900s through the 1980s, while those in Boss Chrysler’s Garage are embellished by theme.
