Gingerbread houses have long held a certain magical quality. The painstaking attention to detail on the part of its creators makes it a true gift to all who enjoy it. This holiday season, the Capital Hotel in Little Rock, AR, The Clifton Inn in Charlottesville, VA, and The Jefferson, Washington, D.C. are gifting their guests withEnchanting Villages and Gingerbread Hotel Replicas, inspired and influenced by the storied history of this specially spiced cake – whose traditions were brought to the New World by settlers long ago.

It is tradition at the Capital Hotel in Little Rock to have an ornate gingerbread rendition of the historic hotel, but this year pastry chef Tandra Watkins [pictured] is going all out in creating an enormous 12x 4′, traditional style Gingerbread Village. Unveiled at the hotel’s official tree lighting on November 28, the village incorporates 19 ft. of Christmas lights as well as two Christmas trains winding along a 22 ft. long track through 14 gingerbread structures, 167 handmade pine trees, and two snow forts.

Following the German gingerbread village tradition even more, The Clifton Inn in Charlottesville will also be forgoing their traditional replica “gingerbread hotel” in favor of a village this year. Led byexecutive chef Tucker Yoder– who also creates a village with his children at home, all of the members of the culinary team will be creating gingerbread houses to complete the village which will be unveiledDecember 12.

At The Jefferson, Washington, D.C. executive chef Chris Jakubiecand pastry chef Fabrice Lerayare creating a scaled replica of the historic downtown hotel that would certainly make the hotel’s architect namesake, Thomas Jefferson proud. The 2ft in diameter gingerbread hotel will be stunning as the design will focus on an opaque sugar “opaline” that mimics the hotel’s famous 1940s illuminated skylight.  Right down to the detail, and the significance of the piece, a gingerbread Thomas Jefferson makes a guest appearance enjoying the White Chocolate Snow on December 7.
