Offered at 20 Percent Off When Booked By May 1, 2012
SUN VALLEY, ID, March 12, 2012 ˆ Far and Away Adventures http://www.far-away.com/, the river rafting outfitter bringing confluence to the opposing terms wilderness‚ and luxury, announces a limited offer, 20 percent discount on three late summer/ early fall 2012 Rocky Mountain fly fishing expeditions.
Melding world-class fly fishing and luxury camping on Idaho‚s Middle Fork of the Salmon River, 7-day / 6-night adventures include five nights on the river plus a bonus day of fishing on Silver Creek, a spring-fed waterway that in the early 1950s lured Ernest Hemingway to Idaho. The per person double occupancy rate is $3,275 instead of the listed $4,050 if booked by May 1. Non-fishing participants are $2,880 regardless of when booked. A single lodging supplement is $500. Trip dates are Aug 27-Sept. 2, Sept. 6-12 and Sept.14-20.
„In the fall when fly fishing is at its peak, an experienced angler chasing Westslope Cutthroat Trout on this legendary wilderness river can bring 100 fish a day back to the boat,‰ said Steve Lentz, owner. „We advocate resource conservation and are very sensitive to the proper handling of wild trout. We are more than happy to release your catch in a manner that least impacts the fish, after pictures are taken of course!‰
The native fish populations here have made what Lentz called „a phenomenal come-back‰ thanks to a catch and release program instituted in 1974.
This adventure for seasoned and novice anglers and non-fishing companions includes the guided fishing / glamping experience, use of two-person fishing craft, one night at the upscale Sun Valley Lodge, and a full day guided fishing trip to one of the most legendary trout streams in the West, Silver Creek. Hemingway, Gary Cooper and Gregory Peck all helped put this incredible fishery on the map.
Local experts David Glasscock and David Clark describe it this way, „Silver Creek offers anglers the chance to stalk big rainbow and brown trout. This flat water spring creek has daily mayfly hatches and unparalleled "match the hatch" dry fly fishing. Silver Creek has the highest density of trout of any river its size in the U.S. Combine this with the smorgasbord of insect hatches and it's easy to recognize this stream as the best spring creek in the nation. There are many miles of Silver Creek to fish and it would take weeks to fish all the good locations.‰
Far and Away Adventures‚ package includes all ground transportation, backcountry air shuttle access into the Middle Fork, deluxe organic and locally sourced meals while on the river trip, all luxury tenting equipment, staff and guides. Personal items, guide and staff gratuities and Forest Service fees not included.
Guests fish from shore or from boats appointed with fishing frames dedicated to fore and aft positions with swivel seats and brace to accommodate anglers. Non-fishing companions can hike, swim, enjoy a massage, soak in natural hot springs, practice yoga, engage in nature photography or simply relax in the quiet of the Canyon.
The pace of the day sans have-tos revolves around guests. A light spread for early risers is followed by a later made-to-order breakfast. Moveable organic feasts with local microbrews and wines are the norm. Formally served appetizers surface around 7 p.m. followed by a four-course, linen-draped, candlelight dinner. Solar power lights the camp and heats water for showers. State-of-art tents with elevated beds, flannel linens, carpets and nightstands ensure sweet dreams.
For guests who might worry that their presence in this pristine environment may not be „PC,‰ Lentz assured that „from footprints to food‰ Far and Away Adventures embraces the best practices of sustainable living, including supporting Idaho‚s Bounty and Slow Food. Seafood purchases support the Monterey Bay Aquarium Foundation Seafood Watch Program. Guests also can engage in a voluntourism component by assisting the US Forest Service in eliminating invasive plants. Staff and guests embrace Leave No Trace behavior.
