TEL AVIV KICKS OFF ART YEAR 2012 WITH
WEEKEND OF CITY-WIDE ART OPENINGS,
EXHIBITIONS AND TOURS, MARCH 21-25

New York - March 20, 2012: The city of Tel Aviv will kick off its year-long city-wide art festival with Arts Weekend 2012, featuring specially commissioned art displays, gallery openings, street art exhibitions and tours, March 21-25, 2012.
Celebrating the completion of renovation projects to three major cultural institutions--the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv Cinemateque and Habima National Theater--the festival will offer art-centric activities and events at various locations throughout the city, including:
- Non-Stop Museum (March 22-23): A 24-hour art marathon at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art featuring panel discussions, art tours, dance and video-art screenings and a special exhibition, including:
- 8-Cubic Meters: A unique exhibition displaying the works (sized eight cubic meters or less) of 15 independent Israeli artists.
- Land of Promise: A large-scale video screening of 24 different artworks created by Israeli artists edited into one 90-minute piece.
- Indie City: A video presentation of acoustic performances by Tel Aviv-based musicians taken in various locations around the city.
- "Gaga" at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art: A dance workshop based on the newly developed "Gaga" dance style created by world-renowned choreographer Ohad Naharin, featuring the Batsheva Dance Company.

Street Art Around the City (March 21): A contemporary exhibition featuring colorful large-scale street artworks projected onto central buildings in Tel Aviv.
- Tel Aviv Art Tours (March 21): Specially themed art tours focusing on urban photography, female artwork, poetry and acting, as well as contemporary artwork; and a "South-Side Graffiti and Street Art Tour.
- aMUSEment Park (March 22): A presentation of works created by select Tel Aviv artists who have cohabitated in a house near Rothschild Boulevard for one month leading up to Tel Aviv Arts Weekend.
