of the continent's Top Ten Smart Splurge European Cities

The list is featured in the fall issue of Sherman's Travel, the first travel
magazine for sophisticated, value-conscious travelers. Sherman's Travel is
now available at Barnes & Noble and Borders bookstores nationwide.

From scenic Lisbon, Portugal to up-and-coming Zagreb, Croatia, visitors to
these culturally-rich, cosmopolitan hotspots can enjoy their fill of fabulous

Sherman's Travel magazine's Top Ten Smart Splurge European Cities are:

1. Lisbon, Portugal - It's the cheapest capital in Western Europe according to
the 2007 Mercer Consulting survey, meaning everything from hotels to taxis
and dinner cost less.

2. Barcelona, Spain - It's trendsetting cuisine, style, and nightlife are
surprisingly affordable, with lovely beaches for recovering from endless nights.

3. Dublin, Ireland - The city is compact enough to walk around, and many
attractions, like the National Gallery, are free. Added bonus: Aer Lingus
recently became a low-cost carrier, which makes getting there cheaper.

4. Riga, Latvia - The largest, most urbane Baltic capital is hopping with
development, yet it remains quaint and easy to navigate. Low-cost airlines
like Ryanair and EasyJet make flying from London easy on the wallet.

5. Berlin, Germany -The city is known for its bustling energy, the ambitious
work of the world's best architects, a thriving art community, and a "we're-
the-coolest-city" in Europe vibe. It rank 45 out of 50 (London is #2) on the
Mercer Consulting survey, which guarantees that the dollar will go a long way.

6. Bologna, Italy - Home to the ancient and renowned University of Bologna,
this city attracts a manageable amount of tourists so it's priced for locals and
it arguably has Italy's best food.

7. Budapest, Hungary - Everything is still cheaper in Eastern Europe, even
when you're living large at the most renowned hotels and restaurants. This
city takes beauty seriously, from the ornate public baths to the architecture
along the boulevards.

8. Ljubljana, Slovenia - It's yet another contender for "new Prague" status
for its riverside location and energy, cafés, cool bars, and baroque churches.
Rent bikes for a few dollars and cruise the compact and beautiful city center.

9. Zagreb, Croatia - Not a full-fledged tourist destination yet so it feels like a
find. The capital is coming into it's own with its grand architecture and
plentiful cafés.

10. Antwerp, Belgium - Antwerp's northern European cool rivals that of
Copenhagen or Paris, without hitting their prices.
