Winter Foraging in Kennebunkport Goes Hearthside in The Tasting Room of The Captain Fairfield Inn Where Top Local Brew Masters, Fromagers and Pickling Experts Headline a New Six Month Food Series

Kennebunkport, ME – August 9, 2012 – The Art of Pickling & Pairing, A Night with Allagash and Maine Seafood Loves Wine.  These are just a sampling of the classes that will play center stage at Kennebunkport’s Captain Fairfield Inn during the hotel de charm’s six-month Winter Food Series running once-a-month on weekends from November 2012 through April 2013. 

Classes in the Tasting Room at the Inn, a member of the cleverly chic Lark Hotelscollection, will be offered Saturday afternoons and led by local brewers, chocolatiers, sommeliers, fromagers and mixologists.  Combine this with two nights’ accommodations** in stylish and playful guest rooms, a Friday night cocktail reception and optional dinner for two at a fabulous local restaurant and it’s an affordable match made in foodie heaven.  Rates for the weekend series start from $430 for two.  The Tasting Room schedule includes:

December 14 & 15, 2012 — Craft Holiday Cocktails 
Join barman/beverage manager Scot Doherty from the popular Old Vines Wine Bar in Lower Village Kennebunk for an evening of holiday cocktail tasting and noshing.  Innkeepers Jed & Alana pair these holiday tipples with locally sourced seasonal treats.

January 5 & 6, 2013 – A Night with Allagash
Avid beer fans have certainly heard of Maine’s preeminent Belgian-style brewer, Allagash.  Brewmaster Jason Perkins brings limited edition and seasonal specialties to Captain Fairfield Inn for a special night of beer paired with small plates.

February 22 & 23, 2013 – A Chocoholics Dream
Celebrate the month of love with a chocolate tasting from Maine’s own Martha Moon Chocolate Company. Learn how these sweet treats are made and taste samples paired with carefully selected ports and dessert wines.

March 29 & 30, 2013 – Maine Seafood Loves Wine
Visiting the Pine State during Maine Shrimp season is a must!  Savor Maine seafood small plates paired with a choice selection of wines from around the world.  Sommelier and Certified Wine Specialist Erica Archer of Portland’s acclaimed Wine Wise Events will lead guests through this special wine education and pairing class.

April 5 & 6, 2013 – New England Cheese Pairing
From pungent to creamy and back again, discover the diverse world of New England cheeses through the eyes of cheese fanatic (and cheese buyer for a local organic grocer), Shannon Tallman.  Shannon pairs New England cheeses with local spirits, such as beer, mead, hard cider and even wines from Maine-based Cellardoor vineyard.
