Whistler, B.C. – When the winter snow makes way for lush forested peaks and valleys, some of the best views of the local mountain ranges, alpine lakes and blooming wildflowers can be had along the hiking trails of Whistler.

From the paved Valley Trail network system to the tops of our snow-capped mountains, the scenic canvas of Whistler comes alive at varying elevations as visitors make their way along the many and varied hiking routes.

On Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, the PEAK 2 PEAK Alpine Experience provides a 360-degree view of the alpine, opening up the vast alpine terrain and offering 18 incredible hiking trails. Ranging in difficulty from beginner to expert, the combined 50-kilometres of trails offer unique hiking experiences.

Whether it’s an interpretive beginner trail that introduces you to the mountain landscape, or the more challenging Highnote or Overlord trails, there are choices for every ability level. The PEAK 2 PEAK is open daily until September 23 and then on weekends until October 8.

From the village and surrounding neighbourhoods, Whistler offers a number of extraordinary hiking routes that take guests on a journey off the beaten path and deep into the core of our natural surroundings.

The Ancient Cedars Grove is a popular hike just north of the Village at Cougar Mountain where Ancient Cedars await. The Lost Lake Trails (which double as cross country and snowshoe trails in the winter) are easily accessible from the village with the classic Lost Lake Loop offering a casual route through the woods, suitable for even the youngest of hikers. For those whose sightseeing style is more about taking to the air, a number of aerial sightseeing tours are available. Floatplane and helicopter tours provide guests with an unparalleled view of Whistler’s majestic glaciers, mountain ranges and alpine lakes.

Whistler Via Ferrata offers a unique and exhilarating experience with climbing excursions to the summit of Whistler Peak, and the first and only via Ferrata in Canada. Italian for “Iron Way”, Via Ferrata consists of an engineered vertical pathway featuring permanently fixed cables for safety and metal rung ladders to ease the climber’s movement over the rocks.
